welcome

Welcome to Japan with AJ! I want to show you Japan in a more relaxed and personal way — not only the famous places, but also the small streets, local food, quiet neighborhoods, beautiful scenery, and everyday places that make Japan special. Every trip can be a little different, depending on what you enjoy and what you want to see. Whether you are visiting Oita or traveling somewhere else in Japan, I hope I can help make your time here easier, more comfortable, and full of good memories.

Japan with AJ

Japan with AJ is a private, personalized way to experience Japan beyond the usual sightseeing checklist.

Whether you want to explore famous destinations, hidden neighborhoods, local food, nature, onsen, fishing villages, islands, hiking trails, seasonal scenery, or places most visitors never find, I can help create an experience around what genuinely interests you.

I spent many years living abroad and traveling through more than 10 countries, and I returned to Japan with a different perspective on my own country. As a photographer and lifelong traveler, I tend to notice the small details, local character, unexpected places, and everyday moments that often become the best memories of a trip.

Tours can be customized around your interests, pace, photography goals, and travel style. Instead of following a fixed group itinerary,
Japan with AJ is about experiencing Japan your way with a local who enjoys exploring it too.

3 days in Tokyo, with AJ.

Spend three days exploring Tokyo with me, at an easy pace and without feeling like you have to rush from one famous spot to another. We can visit some of the places you’ve always wanted to see, but also wander through local neighborhoods, stop for food, find interesting little shops, take photos, and change plans along the way if we discover something better. Tokyo is huge, and everyone enjoys it differently. Some people want temples and history, some want food and nightlife, and others just want to walk around and experience the city. These three days are about seeing Tokyo together in a relaxed way and making the trip feel like your own.

1 day in Kyoto

Spend a day discovering Kyoto with me at a comfortable pace. We can visit some of the well-known temples and historic areas, but also take time to walk through quieter streets, stop for local food, take photos, and enjoy the atmosphere without rushing. Kyoto has a very different feeling from Tokyo, and sometimes the best moments come from simply walking, looking around, and finding places you didn’t plan to see. We can shape the day around what interests you most and make it feel relaxed, personal, and easy.

5 days in Hokkaido

Spend five days exploring Hokkaido with me and enjoy a slower, more open side of Japan. We can mix famous places with scenic drives, small towns, local food, nature, hot springs, and places that are easy to miss when you are following a fixed tour schedule. Hokkaido changes a lot depending on the season, so the trip can feel completely different in summer, autumn, or winter. We can shape the five days around what you want to see and keep the schedule flexible, with enough time to enjoy the scenery, stop when something looks interesting, and experience Hokkaido without feeling rushed.

5 days in Kyushu

Spend five days exploring Kyushu with me and experience a side of Japan that feels a little more relaxed, local, and varied. We can mix cities, small towns, mountain scenery, hot springs, local food, coastal views, and quiet places that many visitors never get to see. Kyushu has a different feeling from place to place, so the trip can change depending on what you enjoy most. We can keep the schedule flexible, take our time, stop when something looks interesting, and enjoy the journey instead of trying to rush through a checklist. The goal is simply to make the five days feel comfortable, personal, and full of good memories.

5 days in Oita

Spend five days exploring Oita with me and enjoy a part of Japan that feels more relaxed, local, and easygoing. We can visit hot spring towns, mountain areas, coastal scenery, small neighborhoods, local restaurants, and some of the quieter places that are often missed on a typical trip. Oita has a lot more variety than many visitors expect, so each day can feel a little different. We can take our time, keep the schedule flexible, stop when something looks interesting, and enjoy the places in between instead of rushing from one attraction to the next. The idea is to experience Oita comfortably and leave with memories that feel personal, not just touristy.
